I am very excited to announce this exciting new event that will take place on August 19th - 20th, 2011 at the Marriott Hotel in Burbank, California.
It has been a long-time dream of mine to provide a stage to showcase and build upon our up-and-coming dancers. This event structure is meant to give them a voice and exposure both in competition and in conducting national workshops, combined with an evening celebrating the greatest achievements of the year.
This weekend is a chance for the Pros/Champions to stop and celebrate the major influences they've had on the Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and All-Star level dancers.
Westie Awards Gala is a "red carpet event" to recognize and celebrate the years accomplishments in the world of West Coast Swing.
It is my intention to make the WAG awards grow into one of the most prestigious awards in our dance community and awarded every year. These awards will honor individuals, couples and/or groups for their commitment, dedication and support of the West Coast Swing dance community as well as their accomplishments and skills as dancers.
There will be a selection committee consisting of 50 members who have demonstrated a strong commitment integrity, and contribution through out the years in the West Coast Swing dance community. The selection committee is represented from across the country. They will be responsible for nominating and selecting individuals, couples and/or groups of dancers for the various categories.
You won't want to miss this special evening, which promises to be a festive celebration, honoring "The Best of the Best" in 2011. Get ready for a special night when we'll roll out the red carpet and honor this amazing dance called West Coast Swing.
